Millers bring to the "Songs of Ireland" to Fulton March 19

Mar. 11—FULTON, Ill. — Chicago-area musician Rick Pickren's "Songs of Ireland" performance will be the March Miller Program at the Windmill Cultural Center. Beginning at 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 19, Pickren will perform Irish favorites such as "Danny Boy," "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling," "MacNamara's Band," "Molly Malone," "Whisky in the Jar," "The Rose Of Tralee," "The Black Velvet Band," "My Wild Irish Rose," "Galway Bay" and more.

Pickren performs his music programs on guitar, Irish bouzouki and harmonica. He has played at numerous museums, libraries, historical societies, senior communities, women's clubs, colleges, churches, and retired teachers' groups.

He starred as Jim in the original Chicago production of "Pump Boys & Dinettes" at the Apollo Theater. He is a two-time winner of the Marlboro Country Music Round Up, and he has shared the stage with George Strait, Merle Haggard, The Judds, Dolly Parton and Alabama.

Pickren is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a bachelors degree in music and a master's in theater. As an actor, he has appeared in the films "Major League," "U.S. Marshals" and "While You Were Sleeping."

He has also appeared on television in "The Untouchables," "ER," "EarlyEdition," "Chicago PD," "Chicago Fire" and "Empire.' His recordings have been featured on the TV show "The Good Wife "and many PBS programs.
