Milla Jovovich Returns for One Last Bout of Zombie Mayhem in ‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter’ Trailer

It’s easy to imagine that Milla Jovovich has killed more zombies than anyone in cinema history over the course of five previous Resident Evil movies dating back to 2002. But she’s not done with the undead quite yet, as she’ll return to screens next January in The Final Chapter, which appears from its first teaser (watch it above) to bring the fiendish franchise full circle.

As repeatedly emphasized by its first promo’s use of Guns N’ Roses’ “Paradise City,” the sixth installment in the long-running videogame-based series will take Jovovich’s Alice back home to Raccoon City — where a catastrophic global zombie outbreak originated — for one final showdown against an army of the walking dead, as well as the Umbrella Corp. villains who initiated the plague. That’ll involve killing brain-eating enemies while dangling from a rope, taking on a gigantic mutant, and navigating familiar corridors filled with flesh-slicing lasers. In other words, it promises to give fans more of what they most love about the Resident Evil series, including the stylish slow-motion cinematography and action choreography that has come to define these blistering B-movies from director Paul W.S. Anderson.

Also starring Ruby Rose, Ali Larter, Shawn Roberts, William Levy, and Game of Thrones’ Iain Glen, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is expected to bring Jovovich’s zombie-slaying tenure to a close when it blasts into theaters on Jan. 20, 2017.
