Resume Writing Advice

BERWICK, Maine — On Tuesday, July 18 Kate Points of the Maine Jobs and Recovery Plan will talk about resume writing at the Berwick Public Library on Tuesday, July 18, at 6 p.m. Kate will review resumes participants bring with them.

Community Trail Tour

DOVER — On Tuesday, July 18 at 2 p.m. the Dover Planning department will meet at the Rotary Trailhead at the Transportation Center for a special tour of the trail.

Author Talk with Steve Carter

BERWICK, Maine — On Wednesday, July 19 local author Steve Carter will speak and share excerpts from his debut novel, “All Cars Run to Park Street,” on Wednesday, July 19, at 6 p.m. at the Berwick Public Library.

Rally Round the Flag

ROLLINSFORD — The public is invited to bring a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy Rally Round the Flag: The American Civil War Through Folksong on Thursday, July 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the garden of the historic Colonel Paul Wentworth House. Marek Bennett will present an overview of the American Civil War through period music such as camp songs, parlor music, hymns, battlefield rallying cries, and fiddle tunes. This program is free and open to the public, and no pre-registration is required. #TBT Teen Movie Night Tour

DOVER — On Thursday, July 20 at 6 p.m. teens entering grades 6-12 are invited to join the Dover Public Library for a showing of The Goonies (1985, rated PG) in the library's Lecture Hall. Themed snacks and drinks will be provided.

DOVER — On Thursday, July 20 at 5 p.m. join the Dover Public Library to play Magic the Gathering. Collect cards, build decks, and duel other players. All ages and skill levels are welcome. No materials required.

Summer Crafternoon: Retro Crafts

DOVER — On Thursday, July 20 at 3 p.m. we will be making a different retro craft each week.  Kids in grades 1 and preschoolers, with an adult care-giver, are welcome to make a craft that was popular when parents or grandparents were kids themselves.

BERWICK, Maine — On Friday, July 21 Wildlife Encounters Ecology and Wellness Center will be introducing seven of their Ambassador Animals, in person, at this presentation, Friday, July 21, at 10:30 a.m. at the Berwick Public Library.

‘Meet Your Milk’

DURHAM — The NH Agricultural Experiment Station at the University of New Hampshire and Granite State Dairy Promotion invite everyone to “meet your milk” on Saturday, July 22. The annual statewide event, which is free and open to the public, takes place at the Fairchild Dairy Teaching and Research Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The center is located at 36 O’Kane Road off Mast Road Extension in Durham. The event gives the public the chance to see a working dairy farm that represents a typical New England dairy operation. There will be free New Hampshire milk, wagon rides, hourly tours and visits with the UNH milking cows and calves.  A new addition in 2023 is the Smokin’ Spank’s food truck.

Colonial militia reenactment

PORTSMOUTH — The Wentworth Gardner House in Portsmouth is hosting a colonial militia reenactment, as well as a small gallery opening/reception, on Saturday, July 22. The reenactment will start at 10 a.m. and go until 5 p.m. and the reception will be from 5 to 8 p.m. with light refreshments served.

Peaches and Politics

NEW DURHAM - The fifth annual Peaches and Politics event, sponsored by the New Durham Democratic Committee, will be held Saturday, July 22 at the Miller Farm, 51 Miller Road, in New Durham. Music and peach-themed food will be available from 12 to 4 p.m.

Guest speakers include author Dan MacMillan, founder of the non-partisan group Save Democracy in America, who will present at 12:30 p.m. and gubernatorial candidate Cinde Warmington, who will speak on campaign issues at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the door and online at https://secure.actblue.com/donate/peaches-23. Tea and Stitchery

ROLLINSFORD — Hand sewing enthusiasts and fans of colonial fashions are invited to “Tea and Stitchery” on Saturday, July 22 at Rollinsford’s historic Colonel Paul Wentworth House.  Between 1 and 4 p.m., the Wentworth ladies will gather in the parlor to drink tea, sew, and discuss the latest fashions of the 1700s. Costumed in period attire, the ladies will demonstrate the tools and techniques involved in hand sewing 18th century clothing. Both completed garments and some in process will be on display. Interested members of the public are invited to bring along their hand sewing projects and join the ladies for this special afternoon. Tea and light refreshments will be served, and guided tours of the Wentworth House will also be available. Admission is $5 for adults; free for ARCH members and children.
