Miley Cyrus Says Flavor Flav Used to Mistake Her for Gwen Stefani: 'You Know It's Me — I Made It!'

The two musicians had a conversation backstage during the 2024 Grammys at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday

Miley Cyrus is extremely recognizable to people all over the world — except Flavor Flav, until recently.

While backstage at the 2024 Grammy Awards on Sunday, according to a video shared to social media, the two musicians greeted one another before Cyrus jokingly called him out for mistaking her for Gwen Stefani in the past.

In the clip, seemingly taken after Cyrus, 31, performed "Flowers" on the annual awards show, the Public Enemy rapper, 64, called the Hannah Montana alum's name, and she walked over to give him a hug. "You know it's me! I made it," she exclaimed, while standing beside her mom, Tish.

"You don't think I'm Gwen Stefani anymore," Cyrus told Flav. "You used to call me Gwen every time I saw you."

"I know," admitted the Flavor of Love star, to which Cyrus assured him in response: "I love it."

The pair then exchanged "I love you"s, before she gestured to Flav's signature clock necklace and said, "You know what time it is!"

Flav poked fun at the interaction on X (formerly Twitter), writing in a post, "My girl Gwen Stefani,,, I mean MILEY CYRUS @MileyCyrus Give My Girl her FLOWERS."

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and Cyrus have previously met on multiple occasions, including the 2012 iHeartRadio Music Festival as well as VH1's Big in '06 broadcast.

On Sunday, Cyrus earned her first-ever two Grammy awards: best pop solo performance and record of the year, both for "Flowers," which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks last year. During the ceremony, she also performed the hit disco-pop track.

While accepting record of the year, the "Wrecking Ball" singer made an effort to thank "all the people that we love," and included a sweet shoutout to viewers watching at home.

"This award is amazing. But I really hope that it doesn't change anything because my life was beautiful yesterday. Not everyone in the world will get a Grammy, but everyone in this world is spectacular," Cyrus said, before adding with a laugh, "So please don't think that this is important, even though it's very important, right guys?"

Cyrus went on to thank "everyone that's standing on this stage right now Tom, Tyler, Michael and Greg. Our teams, my team, Crush, Columbia, my mommy, my sister, my love, my main gays because look how good I look."

She then asked the team behind her, "Anyone else? Your wife, your fiancée, all the people that we love. Thank you all so much."

"I don't think I forgot anyone. But I might have forgotten underwear. Bye!" she quipped as she concluded her speech, which did not mention her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus.

"Flowers" beat out Billie Eilish's "What Was I Made For?," boygenius' "Not Strong Enough," Jon Batiste's "Worship," Olivia Rodrigo's "vampire," SZA's "Kill Bill, Taylor Swift's "Anti-Hero" and Victoria Monét's "On My Mama" to take home the major award, which honors the overall production of a song.
