Miley Cyrus Shuts Down Those Pregnancy Rumors With a Timely Egg Joke

This evening, some news outlets started picking up a questionable report from Ok! Australia claiming that Miley Cyrus was pregnant with her and Liam Hemsworth's first child, a baby girl, and that they planned to raised her in Byron Bay, Australia. Some were skeptical it was true-and rightly so. Cyrus herself set the record straight on the rumor, calling it "Bull shit" in an Instagram comment she left on a fan's account she follows. That account is now private, but multiple fans took screenshots of Cyrus's denial and posted them to Twitter.

Cyrus also just commented directly to Daily Mail on Twitter about the report, turning it into a egg joke-timely since this is the week an egg photo dethroned Kylie Jenner's most-liked photo on Instagram. "I’m not 'Egg-xpecting' but it’s 'Egg-celent' to hear everyone is so 'Happy For Us' .... we’re happy for us too! 'Egg-cited' for this next chapter in our lives.... Now , can everyone leave me alone and go back to staring at an egg," she wrote.

Cyrus's denials aren't entirely surprising. She and Hemsworth just got married on December 23 and on New Year's Eve, she posted several photos of herself with a champagne bottle-not exactly something someone who was pregnant would do on their social media. Fans also pointed out that in other photos of Cyrus taken at the same time as Daily Mail's photo of her and her "baby bump," Cyrus's top lies flat on her. No baby, just wind in one shot.

People additionally reported following Cyrus and Hemsworth's nuptials that babies weren't on the agenda for the two right now. “They both love kids, but they’re not in a rush to start a family,” a source close to Cyrus told the outlet on December 28.

Cyrus posted her own different statement on social media this evening before her tweet. She shared a mirror selfie of herself in black and white on her Twitter and Instagram, with the words, "Broken phone to match our system/society," written on it. Perhaps it was just a mood, perhaps it was her alluding to the same point Margot Robbie made earlier this week: it's pretty frustrating how culturally, many people immediately start expecting women to have babies after they get married.
