Miley Cyrus Plans On Staying Silent for Weeks After Vocal Cord Surgery

Miley Cyrus is known for being very outspoken, but the next few weeks will be about staying silent for the singer after recovering from surgery on her vocal cords. Apparently while the "Bangerz" star was hospitalized last month for tonsilitis, doctors discovered a "separate issue with her vocal cords, which she had unknowingly had for years," according to PEOPLE.

She was reportedly told she would need surgery by the end of the year, and apparently already went through with the procedure. Miley had already undergone a procedure for tonsillitis, so she's probably had her fill of going under the knife.

Break from Recording

Along with her instructions to not speak, Miley will also be taking a break from recording music, as she's been actively working on a new album. She revealed last month that she was already on vocal rest following her hospital stay for tonsilitis. "On vocal rest not body,” she wrote to fans during a workout session.

She recently released a new single, "Slide Away," after her breakup and subsequent divorce from actor Liam Hemsworth, and in the midst of her fling with Kaitlynn Carter.

Support from Cody Simpson

While Miley recovers, she'll no doubt receive tons of love and snuggles from her boyfriend, Cody Simpson. The two have been inseparable since they began hooking up, and he was also by her side the first time she was in the hospital. During a recent event, Simpson spoke to US Weekly about the stars' relationship, and how they've known each other since they were kids!

""Oh, I don’t know. It’s too early to say," according to Us Weekly.

That doesn't mean things aren't going great. At the same event, Simpson said he's "not single" and "very, very happy" in the new relationship.

"We just have a ball and that’s the most important part of a relationship. The reason why it’s not like … it hasn’t been a really crazy sudden thing is we’ve been friends for so long that when we sort of found each other again in a space where … We both met back in the day when we were partying a lot. We had a lot of fun then … but now we’ve found each other in a space where we’re not partying, working real hard and just like, keep things healthy."

Splitting from Liam

Miley Cyrus took a lot of heat from her split with Liam Hemsworth, and many accused the singer of cheating. Back in August she finally addressed the accusations in a lengthy statement.

"I can admit to a lot of things but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating. Liam and I have been together for a decade. I’ve said it before & it remains true, I love Liam and always will"

"BUT at this point I had to make a healthy decision for myself to leave a previous life behind. I am the healthiest and happiest I have been in a long time. You can say I am a twerking, pot smoking , foul mouthed hillbilly but I am not a liar."
