Miley Cyrus took home one of the night’s top prizes, record of the year, at the 2024 Grammys for “Flowers,” presented by Meryl Streep and her son-in-law, Mark Ronson.

Streep kicked off the presentation by saying they would be presenting the best album of the year, because a record is an album. Then Ronson explained that is not what the award is. It actually recognizes everything that goes into making a song, including artists, producers, recording engineers, mixers and mastering engineers.

“Flowers” producers Kid Harpoon and Tyler Johnson; engineers/mixers Michael Pollack, Brian Rajaratnam and Mark “Spike” Stent; and mastering engineer Joe LaPorta were also recognized for the award.

“Thank you all so much,” Cyrus began her acceptance speech. “This award is amazing, but I really hope that it doesn’t change anything because my life was beautiful yesterday. Not everyone in the world will get a Grammy, but everyone in this world is spectacular. So, please don’t think that this is important — even though it’s very important.”

She then looked to her crew and added, “We’re very excited about it.”

The singer, who won her first Grammy earlier in the evening for best pop solo performance for “Flowers,” concluded her speech by thanking her mom, sister and all the people she loves. Before exiting the stage, she said she didn’t think that she had forgotten to thank anyone, but she may have forgotten underwear.

Cyrus was competing against Jon Batiste’s “Worship,” boygenius’ “Not Strong Enough,” Victoria Monét’s “On My Mama,” Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire,” Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero,” SZA’s “Kill Bill” and Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?”

Performers at the 2024 Grammys ceremony included Eilish, Dua Lipa, Rodrigo, Joni Mitchell, Billy Joel, Luke Combs, Burna Boy and Travis Scott. Streep, Oprah Winfrey, Christina Aguilera, Samara Joy, Lenny Kravitz, Maluma, Lionel Richie and Taylor Tomlinson all presented over the course of music’s biggest night.

Music icons who died in the last year — from Tina Turner to Tony Bennett — were honored at Sunday’s Grammys with performances by Stevie Wonder, Annie Lennox, Fantasia Barrino and Jon Batiste.

The 2024 Grammys took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and were broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+ With Showtime from 5-8:30 p.m. PT Sunday, Feb. 4.
