Miley Cyrus Clears Up LGBTQ Controversy: 'YOU Don't CHOOSE Your Sexuality'

Miley Cyrus released a statement clarifying the comments she made on Sunday night about her sexuality on an Instagram Live video she did with Cody Simpson.

The star received backlash for saying, "You don't have to be gay," and took to Twitter to address her controversial comments.

"I was talking sh** about sucky guys, but let me be clear, YOU don't CHOOSE your sexuality. You are born as you are. It has always been my priority to protect the LGBTQ community I am a part of. Happy Monday!"

It Was A Jab At Liam

During the now-infamous IG Live, the star took a shot at her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth.

"I always thought I had to be gay because I just thought like, all guys were evil but it's not true," Miley said. "There are good people out there that just happen to have d**ks."

Cyrus said that she has "only ever met one and he's on this 'Live'" referring to her new beau being the only guy who is not evil.

Her new statement sets the record straight, as far as her options about sexuality, but it kind of re-enforces the idea that the comments were directly about Liam. Hemsworth was the last guy she was public with.

Miley Has Been With Women

Before hooking up with Simpson, Cyrus was romantically linked to Kaitlyn Carter.

Kaitlyn is Brody Jenner's ex and is featured on the MTV show, "The Hills." Miley and Kaitlyn broke the internet when pictures of the two smooching while on an Italian vacation went viral.

It's Cody's Time

Simpson and Cyrus have been inseparable IRL and on social media since earlier this month.

Their relationship has quickly developed and Simpson even wrote a song for Miley when she was sick with tonsillitis.
