Miles Teller is speaking candidly about his upcoming project.

Speaking to Variety at Sunday's Vanity Fair Oscars party, the actor shared his excitement about the Michael Jackson biopic, Michael. Last month, it was announced Teller, 37, would be portraying John Branca, Jackson’s former manager, current co-executor of the star’s estate and producer of the film.

Teller said before accepting this role, he took into account the allegations of child sex abuse levied against Jackson.

“You only get so many opportunities in this business to make films,” added the actor. “I'm really excited to be a part of it. I think it's going to blow people away.”

The Top Gun: Maverick star shared how he’s prepping for the role. “I think you just try to inundate yourself with as much information as you can.”

He revealed that he’s met Branca, the man he’s portraying, adding, “I've gotten to hang out with him a little bit.” Teller also shared that he’s met with the director Antoine Fuqua and producer Graham King. “I mean, it's really it's an incredible team involved.”

“Regardless of what you know or what your opinion may be, Michael is one of the greatest to ever do it, if not the greatest,” said the actor. “He deserves a movie, and I'm excited to be a part of it.”

He also expressed his excitement about being part of the large ensemble cast. “I just like being a part of the team if you come from theater; I think the word ensemble means a lot.”

The Lionsgate feature has a large ensemble cast, with multiple actors portraying the same characters throughout the years.

The late singer’s 27-year-old nephew Jaafar Jackson is portraying the Grammy winner, while Juliano Krue Valdi, 9, will portray a young Jackson. Colman Domingo will star as the singer’s father and former manager, Joe Jackson, with Nia Long starring alongside him as Joe’s wife, Katherine Jackson.

Jamal R. Henderson will portray Jermaine Jackson, with Jayden Harville playing the young version. Tre Horton will play Marlon Jackson, and Jaylen Lyndon Hunter will be the younger version of Marlon.

Ryhan Hill was cast as Tito Jackson, while Joseph David-Jones was cast as Jackie Jackson, and Judah Edwards and Nathaniel Logan McIntyre will play the younger versions of Tito and Jackie, respectively.

Michael will bring audiences a riveting and honest portrayal of the brilliant yet complicated man who became the King of Pop,” per the film’s official synopsis.

“The film presents his triumphs and tragedies on an epic, cinematic scale — from his human side and personal struggles to his undeniable creative genius, exemplified by his most iconic performances,” the statement continues.

Michael is set to be released worldwide on April 18, 2025.
