Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have laid relatively low after their major misstep in the Danny Masterson rape case. The couple wrote supportive letters before their That ’70s Show co-star’s sentencing, not realizing that the judge would make their statements public. Not surprisingly, the backlash was harsh.

The damage has been done to their reputation in Hollywood, and now, insiders are claiming that it’s taken a toll on their marriage. It’s not an easy time for the normally united couple. “All the bashing they’ve been getting online, and in the press, has sent them into the bunker and now they’re blaming each other,” an insider told The National Enquirer, via RadarOnline.

The dynamic duo is unaccustomed to being “so universally savaged” because they are often one of the first A-listers to raise money for a worthy cause. Just by supporting Masterson, who is serving 30 years in prison for raping two women, they’ve quickly learned that their mistake “is worse than a cheating scandal or political controversy,” putting “an amazing strain on their relationship.” After their awkward video apology, Kutcher and Kunis are reportedly not seeing eye-to-eye on their PR strategy.

“Ashton thinks the best solution for them is to lie low,” the source added. “But Mila says they need to get out there and make it clear they know they made a huge mistake.” With the SAG-AFTRA strike still going on, staying out of the spotlight right now might be their best defense. In time, they will have to face the consequences of their actions and make sure they make it right with Masterson’s victims, who were probably hurt most of all by their letters.
