Mike Tyson and Jake Paul surprised the world when they announced their upcoming boxing match last month. Despite the age gap and Iron Mike being out of his prime, he’s got some reasons why the celebrity-boxer-turned-professional should be taking him seriously.

“I take it serious!” he told Sean Hannity during his Tuesday night (April 2) appearance on Fox News. The 57-year-old boxing legend revealed that he is “living in the gym.” He begins his day on the rowing machine and then goes to the gym in the afternoon. After doing sparring and drills, he goes into strength and conditioning work.

Hannity asked Tyson to “beat the daylights” out of Paul and “shut him up.” Tyson agreed to do it just for the popular host, saying that Paul’s confidence going into the fight will be “greatly mistaken.” Watch the interview below.

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul will come to blows on July 20 at The AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX, home of the Dallas Cowboys. The fight will be streamed live via Netflix, the latest addition in their attempt to branch out into live broadcasts.

“Promotion promotion promotion if I’m being honest it don’t need that..,” Paul wrote in a promotional post on X (formerly Twitter). “The biggest fight of the 21st century, in the biggest NFL stadium in the US, broadcast live, on the biggest streaming platform in the world… that’s the MVP way. Whether you’re tuning in on Netflix or showing out in person, whether you’re team Paul or team Tyson, or whether you’re a lifelong boxing fan or watching your first fight, you’re not going to want to miss this event.”

Paul expressed his excitement to get into the ring with Tyson, even if it may not end well. “I could not be more excited to make this amazing fight available to all Netflix subscribers alongside the hardest hitter of all time, Mike Tyson, on Saturday, July 20th,” he said. “My sights are set on becoming a world champion, and now I have a chance to prove myself against the greatest heavyweight champion of the world, the baddest man on the planet and the most dangerous boxer of all time. Time to put Iron Mike to sleep.”

Jake Paul has held his own in the boxing ring during his short career. He is currently 9-1 and has defeated the likes of Anderson Silva, Nate Robinson, Nate Diaz, Tyron Woodley, and more. His sole loss was against former champion Tommy Fury. Iron Mike Tyson, on the other hand, holds a 50-6 record in 58 total professional bouts; 44 of his wins came via knockout. He hasn’t fought professionally since 2005, but he competed in an exhibition match with Roy Jones Jr. in 2020.
