Mike Tindall is sharing his playful nickname for Prince William.

On Wednesday, the former professional rugby player made the revelation on the Seven: Rob Burrow podcast with wife Zara Tindall. Playfully putting his guests in the hot seat straight away, host Rob Burrow first asked the couple if they have any pet nicknames for each other — and members of the royal family.

"We basically call each other ‘munchkins’ a lot, don’t we? Or 'my love,’ ” Mike, 45, replied, joking that he’d leave it to Zara to disclose his contact name in her phone.

"The Prince of Wales is known to me as 'One Pint Willy' because he's not the best of drinkers. Coming from a sport where it is built on the social aspect and a couple of beers being sunk quite often,” he continued, referring to his wife’s first cousin. “That is one I will definitely give away for the Prince of Wales. One Pint Willy. It's out there now, sorry sir.”

“You're in so much trouble!” Zara joked. “A lot of those nicknames kind of fly around,” the professional equestrian, 42, added, before revealing what she affectionately calls her husband. Princess Anne’s daughter married the Rugby World Cup champ in 2011, and they went on to welcome three children: Mia, 9, Lena, 5, and Lucas, 2.

Sharing that she mostly calls her husband “munchkin,” “Mikey” or “Michael Tindall” when he’s “not listening,” Zara joked, “He is in my phone as something else, and it ends with ‘kitten.’ ”

“You can fill the first word in,” Mike interjected with a chuckle during the wide-ranging conversation with Burrow and his wife Lindsey.

The Burrows launched the BBC Local podcast in November, highlighting inspirational stories from sports legends by asking seven questions each, and the show title comes from Burrow’s rugby number, the BBC said. The retired Leeds Rhino rugby star, who has motor neurone disease and is patron of the Motor Neurone Disease Association, communicates through computerized voice recordings he made before he could no longer speak.

Mike also launched a podcast after leaving the sport and has hosted The Good, The Bad & The Rugby with James Haskell and Alex Payne since 2020. In September, the trio took the show to Windsor Castle for a special episode timed to the start of the Rugby World Cup, where they interviewed Prince William, Kate Middleton and Princess Anne.

The chat was truly a family affair, as William, Kate and the Princess Royal are the patrons of the Welsh Rugby Union, Rugby Football Union (of England) and Scottish Rugby Union, respectively. Much like the nickname revelation on Seven: Rob Burrow, Mike at one point shared a little about Kate's personality behind the scenes.

"I'm not going to say you're uber competitive," he said in the chat filmed in the Green Drawing Room, before pausing to give a nod indicating that she really was.

Princess Kate replied coyly, "I'm not competitive at all."

"I've seen her play beer pong!" Mike joked.

On Wednesday, the Daily Mail reported that Zara and Mike were spotted leaving the royal family's traditional Christmas lunch, which King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted at Windsor Castle for the second year in a row.

Next week, the Tindalls will likely continue tradition and celebrate Christmas at Sandringham.
