Mike 'Stoney' Stone to step down from 97.1 The Ticket morning show after NFL season

Sports radio personality Mike "Stoney" Stone announced Wednesday he is in his last season on the morning show on WXYT-FM (97.1 The Ticket).

Stone, who turns 65 in December, plans to step down after the NFL season, and after that, the station said he will be a regular fill-in host for at least two years. Also, starting this football season, he will be a cohost for the Detroit Lions postgame show with WJBK-TV’s (Channel 2) Jennifer Hammond.

"There is nothing like an NFL run and nothing like knowing your team has a legitimate chance to get to the Super Bowl," Stone said. "I don’t know if (the Lions) do, but I think it could be the start of a yearly thing. Them getting to the Super Bowl in my last year of doing the morning show, it would be unbelievable."

The station said it expects to announce his replacement at a later time.
