Mike Noga, Singer-Songwriter and Former Drones Drummer, Has Died

Mike Noga, the singer-songwriter who drummed with the Australian group the Drones before forging a solo career, has died. Noga’s sister shared the news in a Facebook post Wednesday night (August 26), but did not give a cause of death. Read her post below.

The Drones rose to fame in Perth in the mid-2000s, before amassing an international audience with their 2005 album—and first with Noga on drums—Wait Long by the River and the Bodies of Your Enemies Will Float By, which won the inaugural Australian Music Prize. In 2014, Noga left the group to focus on his solo career. Before his death, he had been working on an album produced by Low’s Alan Sparhawk, slated for release in early 2021, Billboard reports. Pitchfork has emailed Noga’s representatives for more information.
