We now have Mike Leach on record regarding candy corn.

Yeah, Halloween was Tuesday, but we can still talk about Halloween candy for the next few days as stores put it on sale to clean out inventory. So we’re going to do just that.

The Washington State coach was asked Tuesday after practice about his take on candy corn, the polarizing fall candy staple. He didn’t disappoint.

“Oh I’ve never liked candy corn. I think It’s just awful. I think candy corn’s awful,” Leach said. “It’s like fruitcake. There’s a reason they serve fruitcake only once a year. Because it’s awful. There’s a reason they only serve mint juleps once a year. Because they’re awful. And there’s a reason they only serve candy corn once a year. Because it’s awful. Now that does beg the question why they serve it at all. But anyway, that’s my opinion.”

We learned this week that combining candy corn with peanuts can mimic the taste of a PayDay candy bar. While that sounds intriguing, we’re not going to go out and find some candy corn on sale. Leach probably isn’t either.
