Mike Jones is about to pull a Taylor Swift and re-record his hit singles. In October, the Houston legend saw NLE Choppa’s “Still Tippin” freestyle and disapproved. Jones alleged that NLE never got his permission to use his track.

“Don’t care about getting respect, especially if the respect wasn’t shown 4 months ago prior to releasing the music without getting the business clear!” he typed in an Instagram comment. “I told y’all #Welcome2TheMusicBusiness #StayTuned For Receipts & I wish a NI**A Would.”

Choppa then fired back, asserting that Jones copyrighted his freestyle and called the “Drop & Gimme 50” rapper a “lame.” “Ion know if it’s Mike Jones or his team but on everything y’all dead wrong for trying to copyright a song I got cleared,” he typed on X/Twitter. “That’s some hating sh*t especially for a young ni*a like me that’s just tryna please his fans. Ion feel that. I lost dumb respect, but it’s cool fasho !”

“This man lame for that. I’m partnered with a major label! They not even going to release a song if it ain’t CLEARED. If that was the case you would’ve sued instead of copyrighting! Anybody can make a COPYRIGHT CLAIM! That don’t mean the record ain’t cleared. Broke activities.”

On Thursday (Nov. 2), the H-Town native took to Instagram with another addition to the online saga. The lengthy IG post detailed his plan to get “like Taylor Swift” and re-record all of his hit singles, starting with “Still Tippin.'”

“Since everybody wanna copy and remake my old sh*t w/o doing the proper business, I’ma do like Taylor Swift and just RE-RECORD ALL my SINGLES‼️, since these NEW artist think they can do it , SO CAN I , I use to be BIG on Creating Original work & not going back to it to remake it , cuz I can always create new, but I see now year round, all these new artist is steady coming out using it, so I might as well Remake & remix my own sh*t.”

“That way it’s no clearance issues right, didn’t know y’all wanted ‘STILL TIPPIN’ to be remade every year or every other year, hell that’s all y’all had to say LMAO,” he added. “I will make it my job to release a remake / sample , what ever y’all wanna call it , with new artists that on the rise! just don’t say sh*t when I’m doing it‼️Coming soon: Artist : Mike Jones, Song Title: ‘Still Tippin Still.’ Dropping 2024 & a new remix gone drop every year after that!”

He then addressed Choppa’s claim that he doesn’t own his masters with a subsequent post. Jones explained that while he doesn’t own 100% of his shares, he does own a percentage. The entertainer then compared his situation to that of Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk, who owns Amazon and Tesla, respectively. Much like himself, he typed, Bezos and Musk also only own a percentage of those companies. However, the rapper detailed that, in 17 years, he will own 100% of all his music.
