Mike Gundy will not be Tennessee's next head coach
Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy is not leaving Stillwater for the University of Tennessee.
College football reporter Brett McMurphy reported Tuesday night that Gundy turned down a six-year, $42 million deal to be the Volunteers’ next head coach. Not long after McMurphy’s report, Gundy tweeted this.

Gundy reportedly met with Tennessee officials in Dallas on Tuesday. He also, per McMurphy, met with Florida officials before the school hired Dan Mullen. Gundy is a former quarterback at Oklahoma State and has been the team’s coach since 2005.
With Gundy off the board, Tennessee’s coaching search moves on. The school backed out of hiring Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano on Sunday night after fan backlash towards the potential hire.
Tennessee is looking for a coach after firing Butch Jones with two weeks left in the season. Brady Hoke was the team’s interim coach for the final two games of the season. The Vols lost both and finished the season 4-8 overall and 0-8 in the SEC>
