Mike Epps has opened up about his past traumas, and using cocaine to cope.

During an interview with All The Smoke, the comedian opened up about his struggles with fame. Epps stated that he had “survivor’s remorse” after making it out the hood and into Hollywood.

The Indiana native expressed that he used drugs to treat the severe guilt of leaving his homies behind. “I’ve been on drugs, I’ve been through hell,” he told the podcast. “I did most of my movies on cocaine. All About The Benjamins. I used to sit in Ice Cube’s trailer and be crying tears. He like, ‘Mike why you crying? You a king, ni**a. Wipe your face, man. Stop doing this sh*t to yourself.'”

“I had survivor’s remorse. I was so sad that I had left all them ni**as here in this city and I was famous. And when I would come home I wanted them to be happy for me and they was mad at me. So, I was like ‘Damn I gotta destroy myself for you to like me.’ It seem like my favorite ni**a, it seem like he like me more when coming down off coke and crying and I hate myself. He would be like, ‘I love you, ni**a. I’m praying for you.’ But when I would be working out and I looked good, they would be like, ‘Ni**a, you think you better than us.’ I said, ‘How is my success a reflection of your failure?’ And that’s what happens to the kids. They around here killing themselves trying to fit in with somebody that’s f**ked up.”

As he continued, he then addressed Katt Williams’ comments on Club Shay Shay. He expressed that he’s “praying” for Katt because he named a lot of people, and some of them may be connected to “killers.” The Friday After Next star also revealed that the fear of someone harming Shannon Sharpe is why he made peace with him.

“I’m a comedian, man, we supposed to laughing,” he added. “Comedians are dark people, man, like Katt Williams, I pray for that brother, man. I pray for him because that’s some serious sh*t. The sh*t that he did on that podcast. We better hope that all the people that he said ain’t no killers cuz he ain’t gon know who hit him. They got money, they know ni**as, it just take one of them to wake up in the morning and say, ‘Yeah, that’s it.'”

“That negativity sells. But that’s why I had to go shake [Shannon] Sharpe’s hand because I can’t control these dudes out here. [That would] try to do something to him—that ain’t even for me.”
