Mike Epps’ recent appearance on the All The Smoke podcast has resulted in him vowing to step away from interviews all together after issuing an apology to his wife, Kyra Epps, over “misunderstood” remarks.

In the interview, the actor and comedian reflected on his life and admitted to a few things he’d like to do before he leaves this earth, one being, “treat a women 100% right.” Although some may have viewed his comment as a noble thing to say, others felt that it was disrespectful to the woman he wed in 2019 and with whom he shares two children.

“I used to cry all the time and ask God, what did I do that I can’t have a son?,” Epps said during the episode. “But I know what it was. I lied to all these women, got them pregnant and sold them dreams.”

“One thing I’m going to get right before I leave this Earth, I’m going to learn how to treat a woman 100% right,” he continued. “That’s something that I want to do. For my mother, for my children for my daughters. And now that I’m getting older, I’m realizing that you’ve got to treat a woman right.”

Following backlash received for his commentary —which some deemed contradictory for a married man to say — Epps took to social media to issue an apology to his wife, Kyra, and shed light on how he plans to move forward with media.

“I wanna apologize to my wife for what I said on this dumb a** podcast sh*t this sh*t is a trick bag,” he wrote. “I am always misunderstood on what I say on the internet smh never again will I interview with anyone never I am off this sh*t for good f**k off less.”

The 53-year-old followed up with a photo of his wife and a message to her expressing his admiration and respect for her and their family. “Again I wanna apologize to my beautiful wife for ignorant and reckless [comments] I honor you and my family please forgive me.”
