This Midtown Memphis bar lands on list of Best Hotel Bars in US

Tiger & Peacock at The Memphian ranks among the nation's best hotel bars, according to a list by USA TODAY.

The Midtown Memphis spot, which opened in 2021, came in at No. 8 in the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.

The USA TODAY list was topped by The Sazerac Bar at The Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans. Charleston, South Carolina; San Francisco, California; and Boston, Massachusetts, all had two hotel bars featured on the top 10 list, while Tiger & Peacock was the only Tennessee spot on the list.

USA TODAY's description of the Memphis bar notes: “Tiger & Peacock is a rooftop bar and upscale lounge located at The Memphian in Overton Square. The space has a mysterious, celestial vibe, perfect for flights of fancy. With great city views, Tiger & Peacock is the place to go for craft cocktails and a globally inspired menu of shared snacks and small plates.”

The list was voted on by USA TODAY readers. USA TODAY says votes were based on atmospheres and mixologists. One of the best features of the list, USA TODAY says, is that the bars accept patrons who are not hotel guests.

  6. OAK Long Bar + Kitchen at Fairmont Copley Plaza — Boston, Massachusetts.

  7. The Bar at The Spectator Hotel — Charleston, South Carolina.

  8. Tiger & Peacock at The Memphian — Memphis.

  9. Earl’s Bar at Halekulani Hotel — Honolulu, Hawaii.

  10. Camellias at Hotel Bennett — Charleston, South Carolina.
