Mid-State Fair, Vina Robles announce lots of new concerts. Here’s who’s coming to SLO County

Summer is just around the corner, and two of San Luis Obispo County’s top concert venues have announced a collection of new acts.

Over the past three weeks, the California Mid-State Fair announced it would feature bands Cheap Trick and Sublime, singer Carin León, and comedian Nate Bargatze at the 2024 fair.

Reggae and ska band Sublime and musician Rome Ramirez — best known for the song “Santeria” — will visit San Luis Obispo County as part of its final year of performances, performing Friday, July 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the Chumash Grandstand Area, according to a news release from the fair.

As part of the Michelob Ultra Concert Series, tickets will cost $50 and will go on sale Friday, May 17 at 10 a.m., according to the release.

Starting its 50th anniversary year, Cheap Trick charted pop rock songs such as “Surrender,” “I Want You To Want Me” and the worldwide No. 1 single “The Flame” in the 1970s and ‘80s, and will perform at the 2024 Mid-State Fair as part of the Michelob Ultra Concert Series.

An Evening of Music & Wine with Cheap Trick will take place in the Chumash Grandstand Arena at the Paso Robles Event Center on Friday, July 26, at 7:30 pm, with tickets expected to go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. for $40 or $85, depending on ticket type, according to the release.

Earlier in the fair, singer Carin León will perform at the Chumash Grandstand Arena with an to-be-announced opening act on Monday, July 22, according to a release from the fair.

León is a two-time Latin Grammy winner, and recently became the first Latin artist to perform at the globally renowned Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and Stagecoach Festival in the same year, according to the release.

Tickets to see León are selling for $65, $95, $135 and $180 at the fair’s website.

Rounding out recent announcements, tickets are on sale for between $50 and $110 to see comedian Nate Bargatze on Thursday, July 18, at the Chumash Grandstand Arena, the fair announced.

Bargatze has produced two specials for Netflix — “The Standups” and “The Tennessee Kid” — which have received positive reviews for their clean and relatable material, according to the release.

The 2024 California Mid-State Fair will run from July 17-28, with tickets available at www.MidStateFair.com.

More acts to visit SLO County at Vina Robles Amphitheatre

Even more musical acts such as Crowded House and Yachtley Crew are slated to visit San Luis Obispo County this year at Vina Robles Ampitheatre, according to news releases from the venue.

Yachtley Crew’s “Full Steam Ahead Tour” will bring the seven-piece soft-rock cover band to Vina Robles on Saturday, Aug. 31, while Australian rock band Crowded House is set to visit the amphitheater on Saturday, Sept. 28, as part of their North American Gravity Stairs Tour promoting their eighth studio album, the venue said.

Tickets are currently available on Ticketmaster, according to the release.

Fans of Fleetwood Mac can catch tribute band Rumours of Fleetwood Mac on Saturday, July 27. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster starting Friday, May 17, at 10 a.m.

Meanwhile, guests looking to move their feet can find British dance project JUNGLE at Vina Robles on Wednesday, Sept. 25, with tickets going on sale on Ticketmaster on Friday at 10 a.m.

The group is coming off of its first ever BRIT Award for Best Group after releasing its most recent album, “VOLCANO,” according to the release.

Last but not least, Mercury Prize winning, Grammy-nominated musician Michael Kiwanuka and five-time Grammy-winning singer Brittany Howard will co-headline a cooncert as part of a fall tour with musician Yasmin Williams, according to a release from the venue.

Tickets to see the duo are currently available via Ticketmaster for Friday, Oct. 26, according to the release.
