Mickey Guyton, the 33-year-old powerhouse vocalist out of Arlington, Texas, made her country music introduction last year with her resilient single “Better Than You Left Me.” There, she promises an ex-lover that he “don’t know her anymore.” On her followup, “Heartbreak Song,” which dropped this summer, she goes and shows him how much stronger she’s become.

“It’s my fun, flirtier side,” Guyton says of the upbeat tune. For the music video, which EW is thrilled to premiere below, Guyton says her only goal was to find a conceit that packed as much punch as the track itself. “It is such a powerful song and I wanted to be able to express the right emotion in the video,” she says, “of being empowered and free from a bad relationship. Shane Drake, who directed the video, is so talented at making women look beautiful so not only did I feel glamorous during the shoot but I’m so happy with the final results.”

Guyton spent this year warming stages each night for Brad Paisley and says that her winter break will be spent on finished her debut album. “My goal is empowerment,” she says of the set, “showing that women are priceless.”
