LAFAYETTE, La (KLFY)– This year’s New Orleans Jazz Fest saw record breaking numbers with half a million people in attendance. Organizers of the festival attribute the record breaking crowds to the legendary Mick Jagger and his Band the Rolling Stones. During the festival, Jagger watched nearly a dozen performers, one of them being Nathan “Big Nate” Williams Sr. of Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Chas.

New 10 got the chance to speak with Big Nate about his music, legacy and of course having Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones come to see him play on the Fais Do Do Stage at the Jazz Fest in New Orleans.

Nathan “Big Nate” Williams Sr. is the lead singer of the grammy nominated zydeco band, Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Chas. Known for being a staple in zydeco music and getting people to dance out of their shoes, Big Nate said his music has a little bit of everything for everyone.

“My type of music, I tell everybody, it’s like a gumbo,” Williams said. “I’ve got a little bit blues, I got a little bit of R&B, you know, like a little raggy touch and stuff like that.”
