Mick Jagger and longtime girlfriend Melanie Hamrick enjoyed an evening of New York City glamour together.

The pair, who have been dating since 2014 and share 6-year-old son, Deveraux Octavian Basil, had an elegant date night at the American Ballet Theater Fall Gala on Tuesday.

The Rolling Stones rocker, 80, sported a dapper, emerald green velvet-style blazer with an all black ensemble, while his former ballerina girlfriend, 36, sported a lace corset, black, ankle-length skirt and cropped faux fur jacket for the event hosted at the Lincoln Center's David H. Koch Theater.

Hamrick, who released her debut novel First Position in June, spent 15 years as a member of the corps de ballet before she retired in 2019 from the American Ballet Theater.

She and the Rolling Stones bandleader previously joined forces for the 2019 ballet Porte Rouge, for which Hamrick picked the music (all from the Rolling Stones discography) and orchestrated the choreography.

While Hamrick told PEOPLE that she "had a lot of fun working on it" and she'd "definitely" collaborate with Jagger again in the future, it's not her next priority.

"I've been keeping work separate. For me personally, I prefer that because then it's kind of fun," she said. "We are in such similar careers, to keep it separate is better. You're working with the person all day, and then you're with them at night. It's like, too much of each other. And then it's nice to have outside opinions, someone that isn't in it with you. They can give you really solid advice. So I prefer the separation from work."

In June, Hamrick also elaborated on rumors that she and the "Angry" musician were engaged saying the sparkly diamond on her ring finger was a "promise ring."

"I mean, I have to giggle because did Mick give me the ring? Yes. Is it for that finger? Yes," she told PEOPLE. "But are we like, horny teenagers where we’re giving each other… In my mind, it's a promise ring. We'll be immature and call it a promise ring."

In fact she's not quite sure she envisions marriage in her future.

"I don’t know," she said. "I'm kind of like, a live-in-the-moment type of person, so who knows."

The couple's latest outing comes amid the release of  Hackney Diamonds last week — the band's first new album in 18 years, which features collaborations with Elton JohnPaul McCartney, Lady GagaStevie Wonder and more.
