One of The Brothers Sun has just had a truth bomb dropped on him by mom Michelle Yeoh in TVLine’s exclusive #2024FirstLook sneak peek from the upcoming Netflix series.

Created by Brad Falchuk and Byron Wu, and premiering Thursday, Jan. 4, the action-packed series is set in motion when the head of a powerful Taiwanese triad is shot by a mysterious assassin. The crime boss’ eldest son, the legendary killer Charles “Chairleg” Sun (played by Justin Chien), in turn makes a beeline for Los Angeles to protect his mother, Eileen (Michelle Yeoh), and his naive younger brother, Bruce (Sam Song Li) — the latter of whom has been completely sheltered from the truth about his family until now.

As Taipei’s deadliest societies and a new rising faction then go head-to-head for dominance, Charles, Bruce and their mother must heal the wounds caused by their separation and figure out what brotherhood and family truly mean before one of their countless enemies kills them all.

In the exclusive sneak peek above, Eileen has just debriefed Bruce on the dangerous family business, leaving him to marvel that his whole life has been a lie. But might Bruce “step up” and play a role in helping his family in this explosive feud? All while studying for a test at school? Press play above to get Eileen’s candid POV.

The Brothers Sun co-creator Falchuk serves as showrunner on the series and executive-produces alongside Wu, Mikkel Bondesen and Kevin Tancharoen. The all-Asian cast also includes Highdee Kuan (as Alexis) and Joon Lee (TK), plus recurring players Alice Hewkin (May/June), Jon Xue Zhang (Blood Boots), Jenny Yang (Xing), Madison Hu (Grace) and Rodney To (Mark).
