Michelle Obama's 'The Light We Carry' book tour is now an Audible podcast: Hear exclusive clip

You couldn't make it to a stop on Michelle Obama's recent celebrity-filled book tour? Don't worry: That tour is becoming a podcast. The first episode drops Tuesday, and we have an exclusive first listen from Audible.

“Michelle Obama: The Light Podcast” is based on Obama’s tour promoting “The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times,” her bestselling 2022 book, which featured special guests like Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, Tyler Perry and David Letterman.

“Though only a few thousand people were able to attend the events live, these remarkable conversations can now be heard by everyone,” Audible said in a news release. The eight-episode podcast “goes beyond the book as Michelle Obama and her friends share personal stories and insights listeners won’t encounter anywhere else.”

In the shared clip, Obama tells "Today" show host Hoda Kotb a funny anecdote about how her husband, former President Barack Obama, came to coach their daughter Sasha's fourth-grade basketball league.

"The parents who were coaching really didn't know how to coach. So he's sitting there at the games and he's like, 'They're not running any plays!'" Obama says.

Though he was a busy man, the basketball-obsessed president couldn't let it go.

"So you imagine: You're the parent coach who doesn't know basketball, and the president of the United States is checking you," Obama says. "By game four, he was on the bench."

Barack Obama isn't just his daughters' biggest supporter, but also his wife's. Last year when the former president dropped his annual list of his favorite entertainment of the year, including his top reads, one title immediately stuck out: Topping the list was his wife's book.

"I'm a bit biased on this one," he wrote in parenthesis next to the book on his list.
