Michelle Obama Recreates Beyoncé’s 'Formation' Look

Michelle Obama celebrated Beyoncé’s birthday today with a Lemonade-inspired photo tribute. She—along with Serena Williams, Kelly Rowland, Blue Ivy, and many more—dressed up in the iconic hat-and-braids ensemble that Beyoncé donned in her 2016 “Formation” music video, as Fader points out. (That visual ended up winning Video of the Year at the MTV VMAs.) The photos are posted on Beyoncé’s website as part of a birthday message from her “family and friends.” See them below as well. Obama included Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” as part of her “Carpool Karaoke” appearance last year. Meanwhile, Williams appeared in her black and white music video for “Sorry.”
