The pair, known to NCIS fans as Special Agents Ziva David and Anthony “Tony” DiNozzo, will reprise their roles from the crime procedural drama for a new spin-off series for Paramount+, the streamer announced Wednesday.

According to the announcement, the upcoming show is currently untitled and is expected to begin production later this year.

The 10-episode series will see de Pablo, 44, and Weatherly, 55, on screen together for the first time in a decade.

Weatherly started his run with NCIS when the show debuted in 2003 and left in 2016. He recently made a cameo on the show during the funeral of Donald "Ducky" Mallard, played by the late David McCallum.

De Pablo joined in season 3, and starred on NCIS until her character appeared to be killed off in season 13.

The storyline picks up after David’s “supposed death,” the official synopsis states.

“Tony left the NCIS team to go raise their daughter. Years later, Ziva was discovered alive, leading her to complete one final mission with NCIS before she was reunited with Tony and their daughter in Paris,” the synopsis continues.

“Since then – and where we find them in the new Paramount+ original series – Tony and Ziva have been raising their daughter, Tali, together. When Tony’s security company is attacked, they must go on the run across Europe, try to figure out who is after them and maybe even learn to trust each other again so that they can finally have their unconventional happily ever after.”

Both actors will serve as executive producers on the untitled project, alongside John McNamara.

In a joint statement, Weatherly and de Pablo said they had been discussing the possibility of telling this story “for many years,” and now with the help of McNamara, 61, they are both ready to move forward.

“The world of Tony and Ziva (and daughter Tali) promises to be an action-packed roller coaster fueled by love, danger, tears and laughter. We also want to acknowledge and thank the fans from around the world who supported the ‘TIVA’ movement for years. To this day, they say hello in grocery stores and on the street to tell us how much these characters mean to them and ask what Tony and Ziva are up to now. This is for you!” the actors said.

Before Weatherly’s exit in 2016, he spoke positively about his character with reporters. “I spent a lot of hours with him and we’ll see if I miss him after a while, but I think I will. I liked him. He had a really great puppyish sense of fun and adventure and optimism," he said.

McNamara, who also serves as a showrunner for the new series, added that he is “incredibly excited to step into the NCIS universe with Cote and Michael.”

Referring to the NCIS franchise as a “global sensation,” the executive producer said it’s “phenomenal” that “CBS Studios and Paramount+ have given us the greenlight to shoot in Europe.”

He quipped that if he divulged the details of the show’s title, he would “be violating the Espionage Act.”
