Michael Phelps' family enjoyed their last Christmas as a family of five.

The Olympic swimmer, 38, had a wonderful holiday with wife Nicole Johnson — who is expecting the couple's fourth baby — and sons Maverick, 3, Beckett, 5, and Boomer, 7.

The family posed together with Santa Claus, joined by Johnson's father in the beautiful family photo. There were also shots of the boys playing and baking together.

"Winter Wonderland Fun 🎄🎅🏼," Johnson captioned the shots.

The parents of three boys announced on Instagram that their family was growing yet again in an anniversary post shared earlier this month.

The pair — who have been married since 2016 — posed for a photo at a recent NFL game where Johnson put her baby bump on display.

The soon-to-be mom of four shared the Instagram post to celebrate the couple's new addition, as well as her seventh anniversary with the Olympic champion swimmer.

"For those that are wondering… yes! we’re expecting our 4th Phelps in 2024 💙💙💙💙," Johnson wrote alongside the carousel of images.

The family of five enjoys spending quality time together, from watching movies to attending football games. Phelps also credits his family for helping him work through his depression, as their routines and rituals have helped curtail the effects, he told PEOPLE in 2021. One such routine is their daily 5 p.m. family dinners.

"As a kid, I always wanted to have dinner as a family but with my parents separated, that didn't happen often," Phelps told PEOPLE. "I love how we have dinner every night together at the same exact time."

As Phelps sometimes still struggles with mental illness, he is determined to help his sons learn how to work through negative feelings.

"They talk about their emotions," the retired professional swimmer said. "It gives me a lot of hope. I just want them to be as prepared as they can be."

"We don't hide from emotions. We teach them that daddy or mommy is having a moment and we need to either give them space or ask if they want a hug,” Johnson explained. “And that's taught them they have permission for their feelings to be heard too."

And when it’s time for a hug, Phelps said the kids “just make me melt.”

"It makes me go to the ground instantly. I absolutely adore being around them,” the future father of four added of his children.
