Michael Phelps Gives Golden Advice to ‘AGT’ Contestants

Fresh off his dominating performance at the Olympics in Rio, Michael Phelps visited America’s Got Talent to give some golden advice to the remaining contestants. America’s most talented person told the slightly less talented people to enjoy the moment and remember to have fun. Of course, it’s much easier to have fun when you’re winning all the time, so for all the kids watching at home, Phelps shared some insight as to how he became so successful. He said he started setting goals when he was 9 years old and followed up with, “I literally dreamt for the stars and dreamt for the biggest possible thing I could think of.”

Nick Cannon asked Phelps to describe the moment when he won his 23rd gold medal. The greatest Olympian of all time was glad he was able to retire the way he did, but there was something else that made the moment even more special. Phelps said, “But most importantly I had my first — our first child in the stands.”

America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
