Michael Jackson's Estate Released a Concert Film While HBO Aired Leaving Neverland

About 20 minutes into part one of HBO's "Leaving Neverland," the estate of Michael Jackson released a concert film on YouTube featuring the late-singer. The footage is from a Jackson show in Bucharest during his Dangerous Tour in 1992. By late Sunday evening, the two-hour concert had accumulated more than 100,000 views. Jackson's estate is planning to release a second concert film on Monday night.

"Don’t miss the magic from the King of Pop himself! Immerse yourself in Michael Jackson. Live in Bucharest and Live at Wembley Stadium available for a limited time on Michael Jackson’s @youtube!" A tweet Sunday night from the Jackson estate said.

The Bucharest concert film, which Jackson's official Twitter feed had teased earlier in the weekend, came as viewers turned their attention to HBO on Sunday for part one of "Leaving Neverland," a documentary that tells the story of Wade Robson and James Safechuck, who claim the late singer sexually abused them when they were boys. Part one goes into graphic detail about what the men claim Jackson did to them. Part two of the documentary is about Jackson's 2005 trial, where he was found not-guilty of multiple counts of felony molestation. Robson testified on behalf of the defense, saying Jackson never molested him. Years later Robson said the singer had, in fact, abused him as a child.

Jackson, who died in 2009, denied ever molesting children. The estate of Jackson has called the documentary "a tabloid character assassination," according to The Hollywood Reporter. It has filed a $100 million lawsuit against HBO and Time Warner, the network's parent company, insisting HBO broke a non-disparagement clause that stems from 1992, when HBO aired a Jackson concert.
