On Tuesday on The View, Michael J. Fox shared his thoughts on Alex P. Keaton, his teenage Republican character on the ‘80s sitcom Family Ties, and how he’d feel about politics in 2020.

Family Ties aired during Ronald Reagan’s presidency — who once called it his favorite TV show — and portrayed the era’s culture wars via the conservative Keaton and his hippie parents.

When View co-host Sara Haines asked Fox what Keaton would think of Trump, the actor responded, “I don’t think he’d think much of Trump. I think he would have liked [George] Bush. I think he would have liked [Mitt] Romney.”

Fox, who supported Pete Buttigieg during the Democratic primaries, added, “I think he would have liked a lot of these [Republican] guys, but I don’t think he would have dug Trump.”

In his new book, No Time Like the Future, Fox reveals he is no longer actively pursuing acting roles because of short-term memory loss and difficulties with speaking due to Parkinson’s. He writes, “not being able to speak reliably is a game-breaker for an actor.”

However, he recently made a cameo in the trailer for Lil Nas X’s new time-traveling music video “Holiday,” warning the rapper about journeying into the future, saying, “Whatever you do Nas, don’t go to 2020.”
