Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz, More Celeb Couples Who Are Both Oscar Winners

Talk about Hollywood power couples! From Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, to Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz — and a few pairs of exes — there are quite a few duos who have both had the honor of winning Oscars. Over seven decades ago, Laurence Olivier took home his first Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his portrayal of The Royal Court of Denmark - Hamlet, Prince of Denmark in the British film adaptation of William Shakespeare's play Hamlet. His wife of nearly 21 years, Vivien Leigh, also snagged two Oscars during their time together in the ‘40s and ‘50s. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie — who were married for for two years before calling it quits in September 2016 — are both one-time Academy Award winners. The Maleficent star walked away with her Oscar in 2000, years prior to tying the knot to the Troy actor, whose first win came the year the pair got married for his performance in 12 Years a Slave. The actor picked up a second award in 2020 for his work in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Two years before Bardem and Cruz got married, Bardem won the 2008 Oscar for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for his role in No Country for Old Men. The following year, the Everybody Knows star accepted the Academy Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for her portrayal of Maria Elena in Vicky Cristina Barcelona. In 2022, Bardem and Cruz were nominated for lead actor and lead actress for their roles in Being the Ricardos and Parallel Mothers, respectively. While most stars have been lucky enough to congratulate their partners on separate occasions, one former couple — James Cameron and Kathryn Bigelow — had the misfortune of competing head-to-head for awards during the 2010 Best Picture and Best Director races. Bigelow took home the awards, becoming the first woman to win the directing honor. When a couple teams up for a prestigious project, they get the opportunity to win together. In 1997, Joel Coen won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, which he shares with brother Ethan Coen, for the Fargo script. Frances McDormand, who married Joel in 1984 and starred in the film, won Best Actress in a Leading Role. Married composers Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez have scored big at the Oscars together twice. The frequent collaborators, who tied the knot in 2003, won their first Academy Award for Best Original Song for Frozen's "Let It Go" in 2014 and their second in 2017 for "Remember Me" from Coco.Sign up for Us Weekly's free, daily newsletter and never miss breaking news or exclusive stories about your favorite celebrities, TV shows and more!
