Michael Diamond Dies: Attorney And Entertainment Industry Counsel Was 73
Trial lawyer and entertainment counsel Michael Howard Diamond, who worked closely with powerhouse television producer Brandon Tartikoff and who represented the interests of major industries over his long career died in his Hancock park home Saturday following a battle with cancer. He was 73.
A Magna Cum Laude graduate of Columbia Law School, Diamond was a litigation partner at Skadden, Arps in New York City and eventually oversaw the building of the firm’s Los Angeles office. He later headed up the litigation division at Milbank, Tweed. Since 1994, Diamond was Corporate Secretary and a member of the Board of Directors of Neu Holdings, Inc., a holding company that owns entities in the shipping and real estate industries.
With a career spanning more than 40 years, in 2007, Diamond founded and was the sole member and employer of MHD Group, LLC, which provided legal consulting, mediation, and expert witness services. Prior to this, he was a partner at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy from June 2000 to October 2007. He was a Director of ACRE and served as a member of its Nomination/Governance Committee.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Marilyn, by his children Seth, Cory, Beth and Debra, and by his grandchildren Max, Zachary, Trevor, phoebe, Shayna, Abie, Mikayla, Ethan, Aidan, and Ben. The family is holding private services for him; donations in his name can be made to Tower Cancer Research Center in Beverly Hills.
