Michael Cera is revealing he almost got married "at like 20" to former girlfriend Aubrey Plaza.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, the "Arrested Development" star, 35, shared details of road trip wedding that almost happened.

"Well, we were driving through Vegas, and we almost just spontaneously took a detour and got married," Cera said. "I think the idea was to then get a divorce right away, so we could call each other 'my ex-husband' and 'my ex-wife' at like … 20."

Cera and Plaza's romance wasn't all a joke though — Plaza confirmed the pair dated "for a long time" on a 2016 episode of RuPaul's podcast "What's The Tee with Michelle Visage."

The pair met while shooting Edgar Wright's cult film "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" and dated for a year and a half, Plaza said. Based on a comic book series, the movie starred Cera as a garage-rock guitarist trying to fight off the seven ex-boyfriends of the girl he's interested in.

“We love each other, and we’re still really good friends,” Plaza added of Cera. “He’s just a weird little freak, and we speak the same language. He's one of the funniest people I know.”

Clearly, the love goes both ways. "It’s not surprising to me that she’s doing really well," Cera told Rolling Stone. "The thing that’s surprising to me is how much she’s producing and putting together projects. It’s amazing."

Cera also talked about preparing for the new anime adaptation "Scott Pilgrim The Anime," which will reunite him with Succession's Kieran Culkin, who also starred in the original 2010 film.

"I’ve never had the experience of being able to make a new version of something with the same people like this," Cera said. "It’s a very strange experience!"

"I’ve had so much fun recording it and hearing what other people are doing," the actor added. "There have been a couple of songs … I kind of don’t fully know what to expect other than it’s going to be really funny."
