Michael Caine stepped out for the premiere of his latest film based on a true story.

On Wednesday, the 90-year-old actor made an appearance on the red carpet at the premiere of The Great Escaper at BFI Southbank in London.

Caine was joined by director Oliver Parker and cast mates Will Fletcher, Danielle Vitalis, John Standing and Laura Marcus.

Caine's co-lead in the film, Glenda Jackson, died in June at age 87. The two-time Oscar winner and politician, died peacefully at her home in Blackheath, London, after a brief illness, her agent confirmed at the time.

Inspired by a true story, The Great Escaper stars Caine as Bernard Jordan, a man who, in 2014, "staged a 'great escape' from his care home to join fellow war veterans on a beach in Normandy, commemorating their fallen comrades at the D-Day Landings 70th anniversary," per a synopsis.

The synopsis adds that Bernie’s 48-hour adventure "also marked the culmination of his 60-year marriage to Rene," played by Jackson. The film "celebrates their enduring love but always with an eye to the lessons we might learn from the Greatest Generation."

In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Caine suggested The Great Escaper is "probably" his final film.

"I am bloody 90 now and I can’t walk properly and all that. I sort of am retired now," he told the outlet, according to NME.

“With COVID and all that, I hadn’t done a picture for three years, and I thought I was finished. And I suddenly did it — and had such a wonderful time," Caine said of doing the new movie, adding, "I was so happy to do it. I just loved the character of Bernie. I thought he was incredible, and it’s so beautifully written."

Back in 2021, Caine said on a BBC Radio show that he had a "spine problem which affects my legs so I can’t walk very well." He said at the time that he thought his movie Best Sellers would be his "last part" since "there’s not exactly scripts pouring out with a leading man that’s 88."

The Great Escaper is in U.K. theaters Oct. 6.
