Michael Bublé's Perspective on Being Called the 'King of Christmas' Changed After Son Noah's Cancer Diagnosis

The singer shares his four kids with wife Luisana Lopilato

Everything changed for Michael Bublé after his son Noah was diagnosed with cancer.

The musician, 48, appeared on this week's episode of the iHeartPodcast Our Way with Paul Anka and Skip Bronson, talking with the two co-hosts about learning how things shifted for him after his son Noah, now 10, was diagnosed with cancer.

“You were alluding to it before you were talking about my son, Noah, going through that health battle. If it hadn't been clear to me before, there was complete clarity," Bublé began. "I realized, anything I was confused about had been cleared up in a moment."

"On Halloween Day, my life changed and I knew what mattered. It's interesting too, I remember sitting there that day and at the time the Christmas record was just going. And people didn't shut up about the Christmas record, 'Christmas guy, hey Christmas guy, the king of Christmas' and it really bothered me."

Saying that at the time he thought of himself as "more than" than someone just associated with Christmas, Bublé remembered sitting in the bed at the Children's Hospital of LA after his son's diagnosis and reflecting on how those thoughts didn't matter anymore.

"I thought, ‘Wow my ego, my fault self is so worried that they're talking to me about Christmas. What are you thinking about Mike? What are you doing?'"

"You are connected to the most beautiful time in the whole of the year where people are kinder and more empathetic and they've got joy in their hearts and they're inviting you into their homes to celebrate this time with their family families, these core memories… and you're who they're inviting in, and you got a problem with this a--hole?’”

The "Haven't Met You Yet" singer shares his four kids — Noah, Elias, 7, Vida, 5, and Cielo, 18 months — with wife Luisana Lopilato.

While appearing on an episode of the Diary of a CEO podcast in December, the singer was asked by host Steven Bartlett about a time when he felt like his priorities in life shifted, prompting him to open up about his son Noah's liver cancer diagnosis.

"My son's cancer diagnosis rocked my world," Bublé began. "It pulled the curtain from over my eyes."

"And that was a sledgehammer to my reality. And I will never be carefree and that's okay. It is a privilege for me to exist and that pain, the fear, the suffering that comes with those sort of things is I guess it's part of that beautiful, this life."
