Casey Jones! First Look at the 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2' Vigilante

Welcome back, Casey Jones! After going MIA in last year’s reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the hockey-masked vigilante is back for the sequel. This morning, producer Michael Bay tweeted out the first photo of actor Stephen Amell (Arrow) in character as the Turtles’ rugged pal. Like the Casey Jones played by Elias Koteas in the 1990 film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, this new incarnation dresses casually and carries a big (hockey) stick. The goalie mask is looking a little more like battle gear this time around. Perhaps the most crucial difference, appearance-wise, is that Amell’s hair has been buzz cut — so the luscious locks Koteas brought to the role will remain a happy ‘90s memory.

The character of Casey Jones made his first appearance in the original TMNT comics, as a goofy vigilante who fought with sports gear instead of weapons. Jones went on to become a key character in the expanding TMNT universe of movies, TV shows, and games, becoming the Turtles’ human confidant and a love interest for reporter April O’Neil (played in the new films by Megan Fox).

Casey isn’t the only character who will be brought back from the Turtles’ past for the new film: Villainous creatures Bebop and Rocksteady will reportedly make an appearance as well. TMNT2 began filming this month and opens in theaters next summer.
