Mica Levi Scores Zola , the New Movie Based on the Viral Stripper Story

Mica Levi has scored Zola, the new A24 movie based on Aziah “Zola” Wells’ viral Twitter thread from 2015. Zola is directed by Janicza Bravo and co-written by Bravo and Jeremy O. Harris (of Slave Play fame). The film is set to premiere at Sundance in January.

In Zola (and Aziah Wells’ thread), the title character meets a woman named Jessica at a restaurant. The two women get to talking and end up on a wild trip to Florida. The movie stars Taylour Paige as Zola and Riley Keough as Jessica.

This year, Mica Levi released her Monos soundtrack. Check out Pitchfork’s “The 50 Best Movie Scores of All Time,” featuring Mica Levi’s Under the Skin score at No. 2. Plus, read the interview “What Slave Play Writer Jeremy O. Harris Is Listening to Right Now” on the Pitch.
