MGMT’s Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser catch up with Kyle Meredith to dig into their new album, Loss of Life. Listen to the new episode above, or wherever you get your podcasts.

The duo unravels embodying the album’s title as a theme, challenging themselves to find new levels of vulnerability in their lyricism, and the bonkers origins of songs like “Bubblegum Dog” and “Nothing Changes.” They also dive into how songs like “Little Dark Age” have taken on a second life in recent years.

“We’re pretty good at consistently expressing ourselves in a way that’s true to what we’re feeling and what we’re into at the time in our music, but we’re not very good at promoting it,” the band explains. “We take our time, and it’s okay if something doesn’t land right away. It’s cool to see how things have evolved over the years or [how] people’s relationship with the music has changed.”
