Chart-topping Mexican singer Peso Pluma's much-anticipated concert at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee will have to be anticipated a little bit longer.

Late on Sept. 12, Fiserv Forum posted online and in its social media feeds that the Peso Pluma concert scheduled for Sept. 14 has been postponed "due to unforeseen circumstances."

All previously purchased tickets will be valid for the new date, which wasn't announced. Ticket holders are to receive more information directly.

No other details on the postponement were disclosed. A Peso Pluma concert scheduled for the next night, Sept. 15, at the Rosemont Theatre in Rosemont, Illinois, was also postponed, and a Sept. 16 concert in Indianapolis also was postponed, according to venue sites and Ticketmaster.

Peso Pluma's official site lists his next concert as Sept. 28 in Reno, Nevada.

The same day the concert postponements were announced, the El Paso Times reported that Pluma had received a death threat from the Jalisco New Generation Cartel over a concert scheduled for Oct. 14 at Caliente Stadium in Tijuana.

According to the report, a banner signed by the cartel and posted in a Tijuana subdivision read: “This goes to Peso Pluma, refrain from presenting yourself on October 14, because it will be your last show due to your disrespect and loose tongue, you show up and we are going to (break you).”

Pluma performed as scheduled on MTV's Video Music Awards Tuesday night, a couple hours after news of the Fiserv Forum concert's postponement. He made history as the first Mexican performer on the awards telecast, singing his hit "Lady Gaga."

Pluma, who has been one of the biggest music breakouts of 2023, was the capstone to a wave of big regional Mexican music concerts booked in Milwaukee this year that included standout performances by Santa Fe Klan at Summerfest and Los Bukis' kickoff concert for Mexican Fiesta last month.

Editor's note: An earlier version of this story, citing information on Ticketmaster's website, said incorrectly that Peso Pluma's Sept. 16 concert in Indianapolis had been canceled.
