Metta World Peace (‘The Masked Singer’ Cuddle Monster) unmasked interview: ‘I can’t wait for my grandbaby to see this’

“The Masked Singer” cranked up the color with a night of nonstop pop on Wednesday, November 15 with its “Trolls Night” episode on FOX. Four mystery celebrities sang their hearts out, but it was Cuddle Monster hitting the wrong notes during his performance of “You Got It (The Right Stuff)” by New Kids on the Block. The adorable beast removed his mask to reveal former NBA champ and Defensive Player of the Year, Metta World Peace.
“It was an amazing experience,” he told host Nick Cannon during his unmasked interview. “I love the character and the chakras. I was asking them to make it more zenful. We from the hood, but we like zen too. I was trying to make it fun.” When asked what his family will think when the see his reveal, Metta said, “I can’t wait for my grandbaby to see this.”

Before the athlete unmasked the panelists submitted one final guess for who they thought was hiding inside the Cuddle Monster costume. Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger were all wrong guessing Dennis Rodman, Tristan Thompson, Draymond Green and Shaquille O’Neal, respectively.
In his clue package Cuddle Monster revealed, “Me? A wildcard? It’s gotta be destiny because I was definitely a wild child. I grew up in a beautiful, but sometimes violent place. But lucky for me I got out because of my passion. A generational talent. I had sponsorship deals, sneakers, even a record or two. Despite all that fame and recognition, my trauma was keeping up with me and I couldn’t hide the monster inside. I was self-destructing during the peak of my career. I couldn’t figure out why I was always unhappy and defensive, so I took a giant step and asked for help. I learned the tools to tame the rage through meditation and positive energy. Never let your circumstances determine your fate. Sometimes, all you need is change in perspective and persona to let your inner cuddle monster sing.” Visual clues included orange eyes in the sky, a bride, sneakers, boxing gloves, a gold “Wall Street” bull and a sword in a stone.
Celebrities previously unmasked in Season 10 were Demi Lovato (Anonymouse) Anthony Anderson (Rubber Ducky), Tom Sandoval (Diver), Michael Rapaport (Pickle), Billie Jean King (Royal Hen), Tyler Posey (Hawk) and Luann de Lesseps (Hibiscus).
