Metro Boomin has announced his initiative to donate $100,000 to five women-focused nonprofits in his native St. Louis, MO in honor of his late mother’s legacy.

“I’ve seen firsthand the work that goes into being a single mother. Mine was my inspiration and my hero,” said Metro in a statement. “It’s very important to me to pay it forward, because I see the same resilience and dedication in the women these organizations work with.”

The producer has partnered with Rung for Women to deliver $20,000 individual checks to Almost Home, Diamond Diva Empowerment Foundation, the Haven of Grace, the Little Bit Foundation and Parents as Teachers. The grants will go to women to alleviate the struggles they face including reducing debt and paying expenses like utilities, childcare and rent.

Metro raised the funds distributed in the donations during the Leslie Joanne Soirée holiday event held at Rung in December. Rung for Women, an organization meant to uplift and inspire women to climb the economic ladder, is the current fiduciary agent for Metro in anticipation of the launch of his independent nonprofit foundation.

“We are excited to partner with Metro Boomin in his work to lift up single mothers in St. Louis,” said Rung’s president Leslie Gill. “Inspired by the remarkable love he has for his late mother, he is demonstrating a commitment to women and to our community.”

Outside of his philanthropic efforts, Metro most recently released a pair of collaborative albums with Future. “We Don’t Trust You,” the first of the two projects, arrived in March and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, as did its follow-up, “We Still Don’t Trust You,” in April.
