Method Man Says Big L Used To Sell Him Angel Dust

Method Man has collaborated with numerous rap legends, but one artist in particular doubled as his drug supplier for a period of time.
During an appearance on Drink Champs, the Wu-Tang member revealed that late Harlem rapper Big L sold him angel dust, seemingly on multiple occasions, prior to his death in 1999. When asked who he would choose between the Notorious B.I.G. and Big L, Meth blurts out that the Diggin in the Crates emcee was his connect for the hallucinogenic substance, which is also referred to as “wet.”
“Well, check this, right? Big L used to sell me my wet,” the 52-year-old rapper told the podcast’s co-hosts, who appeared befuddled by the statement. Admitting their unfamiliarity with Meth’s slang term of choice for the drug, N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN were given a clarification of the remark, with the Power Book II: Ghost actor, giving additional context to the untold story.
“Big L used to sell me dust, n***a,” the rapper added before answering the initial question by saying he’d pick both Big L and Biggie if forced to pick. According to N.O.R.E., Meth’s revelation about Big L was a surprise even to him, deeming it a rare moment in Drink Champs history. “By the way, I’m not gon’ lie to you. I think that’s the first time I’ve ever been shocked like that on Drink Champs,” the Queens, N.Y. native admitted. “This is, like, the first time.”
Angel dust, or PCP, was spoken about by a number of rap artists throughout the ’90s, including Wu-Tang Clan, as several of the group’s members having alluded to or admitted their usage of the drug. In 2015, Raekwon shared a story in which RZA, the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard and himself were high on angel dust and he and ODB engaged in a pushup contest. According to The Chef, he did 900 pushups while under the influence of the hallucinogen.
