Metallica’s Lars Ulrich Talks Grammy Mishaps, Throws Shade at Laverne Cox

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich stopped by The Late Late Show where he and host James Corden rehashed what happened at the Grammys Sunday night. It all started when Orange Is the New Black star Laverne Cox forgot one little detail during the band’s introduction — the name of the band.

“All you have to do is read off the teleprompter; it doesn’t get much simpler than that,” Ulrich said of Cox’s omission.

The drummer also talked about how Metallica frontman James Hetfield reacted backstage after his microphone didn’t work during the performance.

“I haven’t seen him like that in 20 years. He was livid,” Ulrich said. “He’s aged fairly well, and he’s a pretty chill guy. But the first five or 10 minutes in that dressing room was not a lot of fun.”
