Metallica, a hugely popular touring band in Latin America, will headline Lollapalooza’s South American editions, taking place in Chile, Argentina and Brazil in 2017. They’ll join an impressive roster that also includes The Strokes, The Weeknd, The Chainsmokers, Duran Duran and The XX among dozens of other acts.

The Latin Lollas kick off  March 25 and 26 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, then head off to Buenos Aires March 31 and April 1 and Santiago April 1 and 2.

The proximity of the dates has sometimes meant that not all major headliners are able to play all three events, but this time, the official lineups indicate the top five headliners will indeed be everywhere.

There has been much speculation about who would play Lollapalooza in Latin America in 2017, and over the weekend, “official” lineups — which turned out to be not official — were leaked to the press, including names like Metallica along with Daft Punk, who are not performing. Lollapalooza has turned out to be extremely popular and successful in South America, and pre-sale tickets to Lollapalooza Chile, the longest-running Latin Lolla, have been sold out for weeks even with no lineups announced.
