Mesilla Valley Film Society hosting 'Prisoner's Daughter' producer for Q&A at Fountain Theatre

The Mesilla Valley Film Society will begin showing its next feature, “Prisoner’s Daughter,” Friday, Sept. 1 with a special appearance by the executive producer for a weekend showing.

“Prisoner’s Daughter” is a feature film starring Brian Cox (“Succession,” “Troy”) and Kate Beckinsale (“Van Helsing,” “Underworld: Evolution”). The film was directed by Catherine Hardwicke (“Twilight,” “Lords of Dogtown”) and written by Mark Bacci (“Real Detective,” “The Bar”). It originally premiered in July 2022 in the United Kingdom.

The story follows an ex-convict who seeks love and redemption in the eyes of his daughter and grandson after serving 12 years in prison.

The film was released in the summer of 2022 and is rated R for language and some violence, according to IMDb.

At 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, the film’s executive producer, Justin Oberman, will introduce the matinee showing at the Fountain Theatre and take part in a question-and-answer session with the audience following. Oberman is known for working on the 2010 film "Hereafter" and the 2011 films "No Strings Attached" and "We Bought a Zoo."

Mesilla’s arthouse theatre will feature “Prisoner’s Daughter” for six showings between Sept. 1 and Sept. 7. Tickets for showings are available online at mesillavalleyfilm.org or at the door.

The Fountain Theatre is located at 2469 Calle de Guadalupe in Mesilla.
