Mercedes teases Concept EQ A electric car ahead of Frankfurt

Mercedes-Benz released this teaser of the Concept EQ A ahead of its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. We don't know much about the electric vehicle, but we think it'll probably be a small hatchback to slot under the crossover-shaped Generation EQ Concept we saw last year in Paris. And, of course, this little machine will share the floor with the exciting AMG Project One hypercar. A small autonomous concept called the Smart Vision EQ will also be shown in Frankfurt.

Judging by the progression of EQ concepts that Mercedes continues to roll out, we'd expect some sort of production electric vehicle bearing a similar moniker before too long. A small crossover seems like a safe bet, as does a hatchback like this EQ A to go up against competitors like the Chevy Bolt and Tesla Model 3. But since that isn't expected to happen until 2020 or so, we may very well see a few more concepts before an actual production vehicle.
