Mercedes Moné is prepared to show the world a new side of her as a performer this weekend at AEW Double or Nothing.

All Elite Wrestling‘s Mercedes Moné recently sat down with Cameron Hawkins of The Ringer. When asked about her decision to leave WWE behind in favor of touring Japan and eventually signing with AEW, Moné said the only way she could grow was to change her surroundings.

“I don’t like being handcuffed,” Mercedes Moné said. “The only place to grow is with change, and I needed that change. My mission statement is to make women’s wrestling globalized here in AEW and I want to accomplish so many things here. I want to wrestle the best.”

Moné will wrestle one of the best this weekend at Double or Nothing as she squares off against TBS Champion Willow Nightingale. The same woman who Mercedes wrestled in her last match a year ago when she suffered a significant ankle injury. Despite everything, Moné believes the two women will steal the show this weekend.

“I don’t want to put pressure on myself because I’ve been doing this for 14 years,” Mercedes Moné said. “I have more excitement than pressure, but I am really nervous as well, just because it’s been a year since I performed, but being in the ring with someone like Willow Nightingale, I know it’s going to be absolutely everything I’ve ever dreamed of. We’re going to go out there and steal the show.”

Mercedes Moné and Sasha Banks aren’t the same performer

Despite the nerves she admittingly has going into Sunday, Moné is prepared to show the wrestling world a side of her as a performer they’ve never seen before.

“They haven’t really got to see the CEO,” Mercedes explains confidently. “They know who Sasha Banks is. But the CEO, Mercedes Moné, [is] something they’ve never seen before, and I’m ready to show them. I’m the greatest women’s wrestler of all time, 100 percent.”
