Memphis Bleek is making the leap into the media game with his new podcast, Roc Solid, which will include guest appearances from former Roc-A-Fella Records affiliates, as well as other cultural figures.

Earlier this week, the Brooklyn native announced the launch of Roc Solid on Instagram, releasing a sizzle-reel of footage from forthcoming episodes to tease fans on what’s to come. “It’s GO Time,” Bleek wrote in the caption of the post, adding popcorn, microphone, and movie reel emojis to further express his excitement.

According to the clip and its accompanying caption, the first round of guests slated to pop up on Roc Solid includes former Roc-A-Fella artist Freeway and former in-house engineer Young Guru.

Bleek’s longtime friends and former Roc associates N.O.R.E. and Ja Rule will also appear on the podcast, an early indication that despite its name, Roc Solid will delve beyond the scope of the storied arc of the label.

And given Bleek’s natural penchant for dropping untold stories during interviews with other outlets, Roc Solid has the potential to bring a constant mix of historical context, little-known revelations, and laughs to listeners tuning in.

Last year, the Coming of Age creator made waves with his appearance on N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN’s Drink Champs podcast, during which he revealed he was originally supposed to appear in the lead role in the 2002 film Drumline, but ultimately turned down the part.

“If I could rewind time, I would have did that,” Bleek said of the missed opportunity. “I was on some, ‘I’d rather to do this rap sh*t.’ Almost like Ja [Rule] did with the Fast & Furious sh*t. I super f**ked up with that.”

The hitmaker even revealed that the move upset JAY-Z, who viewed the role as a way for Bleek to increase his star power and profile. “Hov was mad at me! I remember Hov was super-steamed at me. Like, ‘Why you ain’t do it?!’ And I remember telling him, ‘Bro, I was scared. I’ve never acted.’ And I remember Hov, he paid for acting classes for me. Rap was everything to me then. Hip-Hop, it saved my life, so I didn’t want to jeopardize that.”
